For a successful implementation
ISO/IEC 17025:2005

This course is based on the new edition of ISO/IEC 17025:2005, General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.

OBJECTIVES
A 2 day course that will assist you in preparing your quality system to meet the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 and in understanding how this standard applies to the calibration and testing laboratories.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This course is intended for those that need to understand the objectives and applicability of this standard, especially personnel that will be instrumental in implementing ISO 17025 in their organization.

OVERVIEW
For many years, various accreditation bodies (such as SCC, NIST, A2LA) have accredited calibration and testing laboratories against the requirements of, initially, ISO/IEC Guide 25, then ISO/IEC 17025. Besides, with the edition of the ISO 9000:2000 series of standards and the publication of ISO/IEC 17025:2005, the laboratories may have the following questions:

  • What do ISO 9001:2000 and ISO/IEC 17025:2005 have in common?
  • Does registration complement accreditation?
  • Is registration to ISO 9001:2000 necessary?

This course presents the concepts that form the basis of a quality management systems (QMS), and how they are applied in a laboratory environment with ISO/IEC 17025. Among others, the following are covered:

  • Concepts related to quality in a lab
  • The Process Approach and ISO/IEC 17025
  • Documenting the QMS
  • Management system requirements
  • Technical requirements
  • Recommendations for implementation
  • ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation process

In addition to the practical approach to the course, you will benefit from exchanges with your peers from other laboratories.
