The ISO 14000 family of standards have become the most accepted reference worldwide for the implementation of an environmental management system. This implementation however must be much more than a simple documentation exercise; it must lead to improved environmental performance of the organization.
OBJECTIVES
The course aims to help participants
acquire a good understanding of the requirements of ISO 14001;
develop some of the tools required for the implementation of an environmental management system (EMS);
develop basic skills needed to improve the performance of EMS;
learn how to integrate an EMS to the management system of the organization;
identify the harmonization opportunities between the EMS and the quality and/or the occupational health and safety management systems;
recognize the steps required for implementing an EMS.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Managers and specialists responsible for the implementation project, or who will be otherwise called upon to contribute to the environmental EMS.
OUTLINE
This course focuses on:
* the concepts related to management systems, particularly their environmental dimension;
* the legal and financial impacts;
* the harmonization opportunities between ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 and/or OHSAS 18001;
* the detailed requirements of ISO 14001;
* tools to identify environmental aspects and evaluate their impacts;
* EMS documentation;
* EMS implementation;
* the purpose and process of EMS certification/registration.
