Course description
PPAP is a tool for qualifying a manufacturing process, to give confidence in its ability to produce to contractual requirements. This process covers the approval of first production parts, as well as modified parts.
PPAP is recognized as an effective tool for continuous improvement, contributing to the quality and durability of customer-supplier relations. Recommended by the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG), it is in line with the quality planning and design control requirements of Technical Specification IATF 16949:2016, as well as other industry standards, such as AS9100D, based on or compatible with ISO 9001:2015.
Target clientele
The course is aimed at staff responsible for preparing PPAP files, and those in charge of interfacing with the customer, at direct suppliers of original equipment parts (OEM) or replacement parts, and at secondary suppliers of parts.
Course objective
This resolutely practical one-day course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and techniques needed to :
- understand the requirements of the PPAP document and
- prepare an acceptable PPAP file.

Among other things, the course covers the following aspects:
- purpose and scope of the PPAP
- when to prepare a file
- file requirements and content
- submission and approval levels
- forms to use.
Prerequisites
Although not a prerequisite, a general knowledge of, or some experience with, a standard such as AS9100, IATF 16949 or ISO 9001 could make learning easier.
