Audit program management

Course description

Reissued in 2018, ISO 19011 "Guidelines for auditing management systems" covers the principles of auditing, managing an audit program and carrying out management system audits. It also provides guidelines for assessing the competence of those involved in the audit process. These activities concern the person(s) responsible for managing the audit program, the auditors and the audit teams.

These guidelines are applicable to all organizations that need to plan and carry out internal or external management system audits, or manage an audit program.

This course covers the management of an organization's audit program. It complements our 2-day Internal Process Audit course, which focuses on carrying out an internal audit, and our 3-day External Auditor (Quality Management System) course.

The course provides an understanding of the essential stages of an audit program. It is, in fact, more of a 'workshop' than an 'academic' course. The guidelines of ISO 19011:2018 are of course presented and explained, but animation and participation are the essential elements. Plenty of time is given to team reflection and discussion of practical cases.

This 1-day course enables participants to acquire the knowledge and practices required to successfully manage their organization's audit program, whether for internal or external audits.

Target clientele

The course is relevant to all organizations, regardless of the management system standards used.

Course objective

Combined with appropriate academic or professional qualifications, this course will enable participants to:

  • move towards competent, efficient management of the audit program entrusted to them, and
  • will enable auditors to better understand the links between managing the audit program and carrying out the planned audits.

The course is relevant to any organization's management system, regardless of the reference standard(s). The course does not cover the specific requirements of standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 17025 or ISO 14011.
