Bringing together manufacturers and their respective national automotive industry associations, the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) aims to provide better quality products to vehicle buyers around the world.

To ensure quality for these customers, the IATF has focused on the rigorous quality of its suppliers. To harmonize the various evaluation and certification systems around the world for the automotive supply chain, it created the ISO/TS 16949 standard.

The IATF 16949 standard evolved in 2016 with the aim of better meeting the needs expressed by manufacturers, registrars, and other stakeholders in the automotive industry. The new version is aligned with the ISO 9001 quality standard, adding supplements to the various requirements and specific elements for the automotive industry. The standard also refers to AIAG quality tools such as APQP, MSA, SPC, FMEA, and PPAP. All of these elements are presented in the various modules of the course.

IATF 16949 Management Awareness – 3.5 hours

Understand the key requirements of the IATF 16949 standard and the strategic role of management in ensuring compliance and performance in the automotive sector.

Course Objective

Raise participants' awareness of the specific requirements of the IATF 16949:2016 standard, with an emphasis on

  • a reminder of the role and scope of the standard in the automotive context
  • key differences between ISO 9001 and IATF 16949
  • increased responsibilities for management in implementing and maintaining the quality management system;
  • the specific requirements of the automotive sector in terms of prevention, traceability, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction.
Target audience

This course is intended for executives, senior managers, and quality managers in companies operating in the automotive sector or automotive supply chain who wish to understand the requirements of the IATF 16949 standard and their strategic role in its implementation.

Content Elements

The course presents the structure of the IATF 16949:2016 standard, based on ISO 9001:2015, and explores the following elements in depth:

  • the context of the organization and the expectations of interested parties;
  • leadership and commitment from management;
  • specific requirements of the automotive sector (advanced quality planning, failure mode analysis, supplier management, etc.);
  • the process approach and risk-based approach;
  • Traceability, non-compliance management, and corrective actions;
  • Quality culture and continuous improvement in a highly demanding environment.

This course is tailored to each client's specific needs and is offered only as a private session.

It generally lasts 3 to 4 hours but can be extended to up to 8 hours depending on the organization's specific requirements.

Although this course focuses specifically on the requirements for carrying out operational activities, it provides an excellent overview of all the components of a quality management system.
